Restaurant Table Bases

23 styles — contract-grade

Restaurant table bases decide whether a dining room feels solid or wobbles its way through service. These are contract-weight bases: cast iron and stainless columns in dining and bar heights, sized to pair correctly with the tops they carry.

Table bases for restaurants and bars

A base is a weight-and-geometry problem. Too light or too narrow for its top and every table in the room rocks; correctly matched and the table disappears under the meal, which is the goal. Spread, column, and plate weight all scale with top size, and the pairing rules are simple enough to get right the first time, or to hand to us with your top sizes and let the quote come back matched.

Sized to the top, not sold separately

The working rule: base spread should be at least two-thirds of the top's smallest dimension. A 30-inch top wants roughly a 22-inch spread; a 36-inch top wants 24 inches or more. Send your top sizes with the quote request and every base comes back matched, which eliminates the single most common table-buying mistake.

Cast iron where it counts

Cast iron plates put the weight at the floor where stability lives, and they're the default for dining rooms. Stainless and aluminum columns step in where looks or outdoor exposure call for them: aluminum for patios where rust and weight matter, stainless where the base shows and the room is polished.

Dining height and bar height from one program

Most rooms mix standard 28–29 inch dining bases with 40–41 inch bar-height sections, and buying both from one range keeps columns and finishes consistent across the floor. Pair bar-height bases with the stools from our commercial bar stool range and the whole elevation reads as one program.

Frequently asked questions

What size base do I need for my table top?

Base spread should be at least two-thirds of the top's smallest dimension: 24-inch tops take 17–18 inch spreads, 30-inch tops take ~22 inches, 36-inch tops take 24+ inches, and larger tops move to wide-spread or double-column bases.

How do I stop restaurant tables from wobbling?

Buy weight and adjustability: cast iron plates with adjustable glides handle most floor irregularity, and self-leveling glides solve the rest. A wobbling table is almost always an undersized or under-weighted base.

Are these bases outdoor-rated?

The aluminum and stainless options are; raw cast iron belongs indoors unless coated for exterior use. Flag patio use in your quote and we'll match all-weather bases to your tops.

Do you sell table bases in bulk?

Yes. Bases are ordered per-room alongside tops, with volume breaks at 25, 50, and 100+ units and freight consolidated to one delivery.
